What is USCIF?
The
Unified Scan
Controller
InterFace (USCIF) is the low-level JTAG scan logic
maintained and updated by Texas Instruments. USCIF is updated
periodically by TI to support new devices and features as needed.
For example, an update was introduced for the release of Code
Composer Studio v3.2 to support the C64x+ cores. In order to
maintain compatibility it is necessary for 3rd parties, such as
Blackhawk, to update their drivers to include these fixes,
additions, and enhancements.
Since CCStudio v3.2 was
released there have been other changes TI has introduced to support
new devices, hardware and features, such as the new XDS560 Revision
'D' cable with 20-pin cTI header. To support the new cable,
USCIF was updated to detect this cable ID as well as control the new
cable's pod electronics, which differ from the original Revision 'B'
XDS560 cable.
Why update USCIF?
For one reason or
another, as described above, it may be necessary to update CCStudio
to a new version of USCIF. If this is necessary, you will most
likely need an update from Blackhawk. This area is dedicated
to making these updates available.
If you are not sure
about the TI USCIF version you have installed for CCStudio or the
USCIF version of the Blackhawk drivers, we have prepared these
updates so they will only install if you have the same version
already installed via TI CCStudio update. Blackhawk does
not distribute (or provide for download) TI CCStudio updates or
patches - these must be acquired from TI - once installed, then you
can install our compatible update.
What USCIF do I have Installed?
You can determine the
version of USCIF installed by running the Blackhawk Detect Utility (BHDetect).
BHDetect does a read-only scan of your system to help determine
installation problems, file version inconsistencies, etc. When
you start the scan, information is saved on screen, which can be
saved to a file. This information contains the TI USCIF
version installed.
The BHDetect utility
is located in \CCStudio_vX.X\Blackhawk\Utility\BHDetect (where
CCStudio_vX.X is the base folder where you installed Code Composer
Studio). You can also download the latest BHDetect version
directly from our web site.
